The tuition centre in Dover Street has been open since 2007. First opening as a Kip McGrath centre before relaunching with new and wider resources as Tuition Canterbury in 2011. Peter Whisson owns Tuition Canterbury and has been teaching since 1980 and tutoring locally since 2007. Tuition Canterbury provides professional, individual tuition to students across the area.

We tailor tutoring to the individual needs of students aged 6 to 16 and above.

Learning should be enjoyable and stimulating – and focused upon what students want for school success and exams.

Following an assessment, which is free of charge, we plan work according to individual wants, and usually comprises of both computer and traditional book-and-worksheet activities. A tutorial session is generally 80 minutes long.

Tutors at Tuition Canterbury are a mix of qualified teachers (experienced and DBS-checked), and high-performing degree students, specialists in Maths and Science, from the University of Kent. Progress is monitored at the Centre, and through homework set after each session. Our aim is to enable students to prove their skills in school or the examination hall.
